Photos of Founding Day and Early California Day, for your enjoyment!

On Friday April 20, 2012, SBTHP welcomed 200 local third and fourth graders to El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park for a day of living history demonstrations focusing on early California.  You’ll find a sample of images from that day below.  Click here to see more on our Flickr page!  We can’t get enough of those baby sheep, we think you’ll agree!

On Saturday April 21, 2012 SBTHP celebrated Santa Barbara’s 230th Founding Day  at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park.   The community enjoyed a wonderful ceremony, including a reenactment of the founding of the Presidio with the Soldados de Cuera, dancing by Las Fiesteras, birthday cake courtesy of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Reina del Mar Parlor no. 126, the debut of this year’s Saint Barbara, living history demonstrations, Tacos from La Colmena, and a Latin Mass with the Quire of Voyces!  Click here to see more of Founding Day on our Flickr page!

Did you miss out on Founding Day?  We’ve got another great public event at El Presidio SHP on May 12 from 12:00 – 3:00pm: Presidio Pastimes: A Celebration of Mexican Culture.  Check our website for more information. See you there!
