Sargento Lopez y Susana (querida de todos los soldados) inspect the
equipment in preparation for today's duties. |
The good Sargento and Soldado Marcos, of the escolta of the Misión,
prepare the saddles, while Soldado Arturo Carlos rolls up His Majesty's
flag for the day's ride.
The two officers, in their cueras, plan assignments, while the
Cabo, assigned to guard the camp, awaits their orders. Doña
Susana says good-bye to her favorite soldado (the good Sargento's horse)
while Soldado Mateo (mounted, sin cuera, behind) prepares to ride north
on messenger duty, to the next mission.
Mateo awaits final instructions, while the Sargento assures local inhabitants
that they will be well protected from marauding indios salvajes. |
