Later that day, the soldados begin to gather for inspection in front
of the Cuartel. Susana comes to see the finery and possibly (if the
soldados are extremely lucky) lounge in the door of the Cuartel, smoking
cigarillos (ok, that's an in joke!). |

From left to right: Alférez Bud Decker (Presidio de Santa
Barbara), Soldados Arturo Carlos, Jorge, Marcos and Mateo (of the Misión
escolta), Soldado Clugston, Alférez Esteban y Tomes and Cabo Martinez
(Presidio de San Diego), Soldado Miguel Hardwick (Santa Barbara), Sargento
Lopez (San Diego) and Soldado Don Wilder (AKA Don Juan, also of the escolta).

|
As drill begins, the order is given, "Lanzas to the front!"
|
|
|
The lanzas are brought back and it's "To one knee and apunten escopetas."

Not all of the days work is so martial. Soldado Miguel made
this fine lamp stand after only a small amount of instruction by
Moises, the mission blacksmith.
The soldados of the Presidios of Santa Barbara and San Diego would like
to sincerely thank the escolta, the staff and the inhabitants of the Misión
La Purísima Concepción for the wonderful encampment and magnificent
food.
All of the soldados would like to thank Doña Susana Novotny and
Señora Paula Hardwick for the pleasure of their company.
