El Presidio Chapel Interior

El Presidio Chapel, a faithful reconstruction of Santa Barbara’s first church using the authentic materials and building techniques of early California’s Spanish Colonial architecture, is a unique space for your wedding. Furnished with period artifacts, the niches are filled with statuary, the walls are punctuated with paintings and candle sconces, and the altar is dressed with a reredos (altar piece), altar frontal, and candlesticks. Interior walls and altar rail are painted to represent marble or tapestry. Site of all of life’s ceremonies - weddings, christenings, funerals, community gatherings and church services, the original chapel was built in the 18th century.

This is an intimate space for 2 or 200 of your family and friends. Come see the chapel and fall in love all over again. Reserve El Presidio Chapel for morning, afternoon or evening weddings. A reception site is available outdoors under the orchard trees.

How to Rent the Presidio Chapel

WE PROVIDE: Candles for wall sconces and altar candlesticks, 10 six-foot tables, a Chapel attendant, Parking in the lot next door, and a list of suggested clergy, musicians and florists.

CHAPEL RENTAL RATES: General Rate for 6 hours: $1,000. Overtime Charge: $100/hr. Damage/Security/Cleaning Deposit: $1,000. *Rental rates are subject to change. For more information call (805) 965-0093.

Casa de la Guerra Courtyard

Located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, Casa de la Guerra was the social center of Santa Barbara after its construction in the 1820s. Using materials and building methods similar to its original construction, the Casa has been restored to its appearance during the time José de la Guerra, Presidio Commandant, resided there, between 1828 and 1858.

The Casa is one of the most important remnants of Santa Barbara's Spanish-Mexican heritage and offers one of the most charming outdoor courtyards in all of Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation is pleased to offer the central courtyard for parties, receptions, concerts and plays.
